ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Lisa Vallejo Sorensen

WHY I WOULD LIKE TO REPRESENT YOU

After this difficult year, I would like to support the kids, parents, teachers, administrators and school buildings to help create a district where education, pride, future looking policy, and tax sustainability are all part of the complex formula. I would also like to use my skills in communication to help the School Board get the word out and to hear from YOU when you want to tell us something!

LEBANON SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY WORK

I am the proud mother of 17-year old twins who have attended Mount Lebanon Elementary School, Lebanon Middle School, and now the High School. I have actively served in the Lebanon School District and the larger community through volunteer work:

  • Science teacher for elementary aged children (5 years)

  • Founding member of the Lebanon Middle School PTO (4 years)

  • Founder of the LMS Voice, an arts and literature magazine at Lebanon Middle School (4 years)

  • Kilton Library art gallery program (2 years)

  • Pedestrian and Bike Committee of Lebanon (1 year)

  • Greeter at the polls in Ward 1 (2 years)

  • Hanover Library, member of the Community Advisory group (2 years)

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

I have a Master’s in Teaching from Seattle University and Bachelor’s degrees in Comparative Literature and Fine Arts in Sculpture graduating Cum Laude from University of Washington. I came to the Upper Valley in 2002 from a tenure as international school art teacher in Caracas, Venezuela’s Collegio International de Caracas. I worked as Publicist and Media Relations Coordinator at the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College before heading to the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.

I am the Communications Director at Upper Valley Aquatic Center and I manage all internal and external communications for the center including: print, web, email and social media promotions as well as development initiatives for the fast growing UVAC Financial Aid Fund. As founder of the Marketing/Design Internship Program at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center, I use my seven years of teaching English and Art to help

others.
